Trip to the Canadian Rockies--Part 1

We flew to Vancouver, BC, on May 15 and picked up our friends Stephen and Jessica for a trip out to the Canadian Rockies.

Scott in front of the Banff Springs Hotel.

The above two pictures are from a dinner show called Oh, Canada, Eh? It was a little cheesy, but entertaining.

May in Alberta is not quite like May in Texas. This was the snow falling at our resort in Canmore, Alberta. Crazy weather here. Sunny one minute...snowing the next.

Posing at the Banff Springs Hotel. (above two pics)

Mike and I have played in the snow every summer since we have been together.
2005--Mt. Hood, Oregon
2006--Yosemite National Park
2007--Mt. Baker, Washington
2008--Engineer Pass, Colorado
So, we couldn't pass up the snow in Alberta...Mike even made a snow angel!

Athabasca Glacier, between Banff and Jasper...Next 6 pics...

Walking on the glacier on 1000 feet of ice.

The vehicle that took us out on the glacier.

Scott had a major meltdown on that vehicle in the above picture, which continued outside...he finally crashed on my shoulder.

Following pics (except bear) are from Lake Louise...still mostly frozen over, but still beautiful.

On our way into the National Park we saw two black bears on the side of the highway. We got a picture of this one.
